TS4 Download: Gain Hygiene from Bubbly Fountain

Updated for Seasons!

02-21-16_3-16-31 PM

Freegans and homeless Sims rejoice! There’s a new way to get clean… by putting bubbles in the public fountain and having a bath in the middle of town! It’s fun too! Best keep your clothes on though: you can clean them at the same time! \o/

Thanks to CSIMSIE for the idea! ❤

Sims won't get clean from playing in the fountain unless they add bubbles first. The hygiene increase is set fairly low so as not to be too over-powered (it's still a public fountain guys, how clean do you think it is?) and it may take a few splashes if you want to get your sim extra sparkly!

This mod overrides the tuning file for the interaction to 'play in fountain' that came with the Romantic Garden stuff pack (tuning name: object_ParkFountain_PlayIn and tuning id: 131859). It specifically works on the Gluteus Maximus fountain that came with Romantic Garden but may also affect other custom content that use the play in fountain functionality.

Override Mod!
Romantic Garden is required!

TS4 Download: Storage Crate

Updated for Seasons!

02-21-16_12-41-54 PM

This object is a clone of the decorative storage chest that is already in the game and still has a slot for placing an object on top. I gave it a custom tuning that gives it an inventory, like the storage chests, but I set the inventory type to ‘SIM’. This means anything that can go into your Sim’s inventory, should also be able to be placed inside the storage chest (like yoga mats, crystals, flowers, postcards, books, portable instruments, etc). Please back-up your game before using, and let me know if you find any issues.

You can also apply my tuning to your own objects to give them a storage inventory by following the guide here and using the tuning name ‘Cinderelli:Storage_Chest12/02/2016’ and the tuning id ‘14388068243292795237’. My file must be installed to work (or you can include my tuning in your own package).

TS4 Blog: Meagre Freegans

02-17-16_10-41-37 PM

Day 2 did not start well for the Freegan household. They were starving, stinky and in a bad mood. They had caught fish, but they had no way of cooking it since I have Plasticbox’s More Logical Cooking mod installed. They didn’t have the right ingredients for any recipes on the community grill, and sims don’t seem to be able to cook on the bonfire? Also, none of the wild plants had grown any produce. 😦

The Freegans took to befriending the locals to see if they could scavenge some food off them, or maybe persuade them to cook on the community grills. Even anti-social Daphne forced herself to talk to people (She wasn’t very enthusiastic and I’m not sure they were too impressed).

‘Is that a morsel of cookie I see on the corner of your lip?’

Penelope was a bit more enthusiastic about talking to the locals, especially when she found a fellow art lover! She asked about local fishing spots and gossiped about the neighbourhood, to try and figure out a survival strategy. Always optimistic, she decided to try and collect things to sell (farewell to their ideals of rejecting consumerism). Apollo joined the scavenger hunt. Daphne was in a pretty bad way and was not feeling hopeful about the new venture.

Based on info from the locals, Penelope led her friends to a busy spot near the bluffs. People passed through often to go hiking, or go to the beach, and on a sunny day it was bound to have a lot of potential customers! Penelope found an old discarded counter and jar to use as a makeshift till, and spread the items for sale across the grass. Then she ran off for a quick pee in the bushes before the customers arrived.

Daphne was exhausted and soon fell asleep in a bush. Apollo attempted to scavenge the beach for more things to sell, while sadly admiring the views, and ultimately collapsing on the warm sand.

Gradually, curious sims began to wander over to see what was for sale. One woman was very nasty and had a constant expression of a grumpy trout. Penelope tried to be nice and brighten her day, but the woman continued to be rude and eventually Penelope had to ask her to leave. Fortunately, the other customers were nicer. The adorable Geoffrey Landgraab was interested in the geographical and biological objects like the crystals and frog and he even helped Penelope make a sale. Kind man. People admired Penelope’s enthusiasm for her makeshift store and soon she was ringing up several customers!

Realising that the store was actually making money and that Penelope needed help, Daphne and Apollo put their discomfort aside and tried to help! Daphne even managed to smile and be pleasant to people! Poor Apollo collapsed as soon as he made it back and didn’t help much.

Exhausted, Penelope closed the store. Apollo woke up in time to congratulate them all for earning $147 on their first day and suggested they reward themselves with a visit to the local pub!

02-17-16_10-47-06 PM

I have to admit, I’ve arrived at a country pub feeling exhausted and stinky more than once in my life! XD The Freegans wandered in eagerly to the warmth and comfort. Penelope ordered some chips while Apollo and Daphne made their way to the bathrooms to freshen up. The barmaid had seen it all before and (averting her nose from the smell) kindly announced it was happy hour.

Apollo took advantage and ordered himself a huge plate of warming currywurst. He sat to one side feeling like a social leper and was surprised when a lady seemed to take a fancy to him and sat beside him. She must have liked the ‘Dirty and Desperate’ look. Ok then. The rest of the evening consisted of generally trying to improve their mood by eating free bar food, stealing drinks, brushing their teeth in the restroom, and collapsing on every available surface.

Suddenly the bar was overrun by bears! Was this woodland really a good place to be sleeping under the stars? O__o

It was all a bit too much for Daphne who had to escape the crowded bar. She wandered off to sleep outside on a bench (all the bears were in the bar so she figured it was safer). And Apollo and Penelope found a quiet corner of the bar to nap in. Their first two days of anti-establishment freedom had not been as much fun as they’d thought it would be. However, hopefully the next day would bring abundant wild plants and their hunger troubles would be solved! Then they can focus on collecting more things to sell, and saving enough money for basic essentials. It’s a shame there aren’t more ways to get things for free. I really miss dumpster diving. 😦

TS4 Download: Plain Romantic Garden Shirt

02-14-16_10-35-18 PM

I love the shape of the blouse that came with Romantic Garden Stuff, and thought it would be great in a plain version too. I removed the pattern to make a basic white version that you can recolour if you like.

Then I added a jersey texture and a variety of colours, so the top can be worn as a t-shirt, and I enabled it for everyday, sleep and exercise wear. There are 3 cute patterned options too.

Blog: Meet the Freegans

02-10-16_11-11-55 PM

I’ve been wanting to play the Homeless Challenge for a while, but felt uncomfortable with the idea. Homelessness has been an upsetting topic in the news lately, and while I think it’s good to explore real-life issues with art, I felt personally uncomfortable with the idea of playing with a homeless sim. But the idea interests me. I like the gaming process of starting with nothing and surviving, and aiming towards a more comfortable position (I’ve been doing this a lot with Minecraft lately, finding ‘start from scratch’ type scenarios like SkyFactory appealing).

Finally, an idea struck me! I could make a group of sims who have chosen to reject the consumerist society and live simply! The Freegan household have opted to be homeless. At first, they will survive off the land: eating wild fruits and vegetables; and fishing (so they’re not technically vegans). I chose a picturesque countryside district of Windenburg as their home and moved them onto an empty lot. The area they can explore is beautiful, and full of natural resources to make their lives easier. There are bushes to ‘fertilise’, rivers to provide fish, wild plants to harvest, places to sleep and rest, and even community bonfires and grills to provide comfort and food.

My three sims are all creative, and will ‘trade’ (not sell, although I haven’t planned this bit out yet) their creations for things to make their lives more comfortable, like tents and showers. Eventually, their plan is to start a bit of a hippy commune and invite other like-minded sims to join them. The three sims are:

* Penelope Greene – an artist and nature enthusiast: she will paint beautiful landscapes and take charge of growing crops.

* Apollo Golden – a happy-go-lucky musician who loves to philosophise about how he will save the world through his music.

* Daphne Laurel – an independent free-spirit who loves books and writing.

02-10-16_10-50-42 PM

My initial play session with them didn’t go to well. I’d set their household funds to zero, and while they’d managed to catch some fish, they cannot cook them on the grill or bonfire (they need a campfire but it is $450), and the wild shrubs have not produced any fruit or vegetables yet. So, they’re kind of starving. I’m using a series of food mods including one that requires all the ingredients before sims can prepare meals, so this aspect will be tricky! I think maybe their enthusiasm for the freegan lifestyle was poorly planned! But I’m excited to see what happens next.

If worst comes to worst, there’s always the local pub.

I’ll upload the household to the gallery later today if you’d like to play along (be sure to use the money cheat one you’ve placed them). Just search for the hashtag: #Freegans

Cinderelli-sim Investigates: Sims 4 Romantic Garden Stuff

02-10-16_1-39-10 PM

Is this a review? I’m not quite sure myself. It’s a thing. And things can be good too. Basically, the plan is to make Cinderelli-sim investigate the new stuff pack for the plums and the giggles.

Dressed in her new Romantic Garden clothes, Cinderelli went to check out the new lot that came with the pack. It has plenty of quiet nooks and crannies where you can meet your secret love. Perfect for a romantic date or picturesque wedding!

Oh, kiss me through the hole of this vile wall!

I kiss the wall’s hole, not your lips at all.

First Cinderelli tested the features of the fountain… by sitting on it! ‘What do you mean there are no chairs?!’

Then she threw a coin into the fountain and seemed very pleased with herself. Next, it was time to jump in and splash about! I like how they keep their normal clothes on instead of changing into swimwear for this, it makes it feel more spontaneous and impulsive! And don’t worry about Cinderelli’s shoes, they’re only Primark.

Of course, Cinderelli-sim wouldn’t be Cinderelli-sim without getting up to mischief, so she filled the fountain with bubbles! This made splashing around even MORE fun!

Next Cinderelli wanted to test the wishing well. This took a bit of searching as it was tucked away in a corner of the lot. Cinderelli threw in a tribute of 100 simoleans but the stone fountain head didn’t seem to think much of this (demanding begger isn’t he!?). Cinderelli tried again and threw in an extra 1000 simoleans (as much as she could afford) but this only made old Stone Head super mad! Not taking his dark hooded disposition dissuade her, Cinderelli sim decided to wish for a child!

(In TS3 Cinderelli had used the Lucky Palms wishing well to wish for a child and had been rewarded with an evil child who she loved with all her simulated heart!)

Clearly all the black smoke and glaring was an act, because the kindly Stone head granted Cinderelli’s wish! Sort of. He graced her with an evil little ghost boy called Parker Mouse! Cinderelli is good with kids, so she told him a joke about elephants and he turned green with happiness! ‘Don’t worry,’ she told him, ‘just because you are an evil ghost child from the depths of the putrid well, I still love you!’ ❤

I’m really happy with the gameplay value of these items. I’ll use the fountain in my parks and regularly send my sims to splash around and generally hang-out there. The wishing well is more of a novelty item for a control freak simmer like me! But I’m impressed with the detail of it: the animations and the intricacy of the mechanics behind granting wishes. There seem to be a good variety of outcomes, and it feels like a well designed object. Simmers who enjoy randomness in their games will enjoy it! Personally, I’ll tuck it away in a secret garden somewhere and if I do use it, I’ll be sure to save first! I’m very happy to have the ‘evil child’ feature back. I dislike the selection process of adoption in the game, so I don’t use it. I’ll use the wishing well as an adoption replacement: you don’t know which child you will get, but your sims will be there for them no matter what! Which is how I think all parenting should be.

Cinderelli got to dress up in some new clothes. The female clothes have a really nice shape and they are very wearable (no awkwardness inducing navel-plunging-cleavages here)! They are nice for everyday clothing, and work well for ‘date’ or party outfits too. I would have appreciated more pattern-less options though. Also… THAT HAIR!!! It’s gorgeous.

The male clothing is also really nice. I was a bit concerned about the floweriness of the clothing when I saw the trailer, and how wearable the items would be. I was pleasantly surprised to find that all the male clothing has plainer options and the items are actually really nice! The hair is great too.

There are even a few items for children! Two full outfits for girls which I REALLY like, the one with the cardigan is so nicely detailed. And there is a cute shirt for boys. There is a very sweet hairstyle for girls, and a shorter unisex hairstyle for both genders.

I personally really like the ‘Victorian Garden’ theme of the build/buy items. There are some new flowers which come in a variety of bright colours, including a few ‘alien’ palettes if you enjoy making extra-terrestrial lots. I particularly like the hedgerows, which you line up to make beautiful borders or secluded areas.

There are a number of stone items, some are practical like the benches, climbing frame and picnic table, others are purely decorative like the new fountain piece. I really like the classical statues, which could also be used to decorate an expensive home or a museum. The ‘folly’ is beautiful and versatile, you can place a bench in there, or a statue, or even place two together to make an interesting garden feature or roof decoration! Although the theme is ostensibly ‘Victorian’ it also has a Classical feel, which I appreciate! Another point I noticed was that many items have darker ‘goth’ colour options, you could definitely make a darker style lot with this pack.

02-09-16_11-41-20 AM

I converted these objects a little while ago to decorate my parks and give my sporty teenagers more places to hang-out. But silly me! I forgot to upload them! *slaps naughty hand*

I converted the basketball hoop and soccer net from The Sims 3 as decorative items for The Sims 4 (I know… I wish they worked as well). They can be found under ‘activities’ with the other exercise stuff to make them easy to find (if you’re like me, you already have a ton of stuff under ‘sculptures’ and can’t find anything you need anymore).

There are also some wall and floor graffiti stickers to decorate your parks with, these use images taken from the TS3 spray-painting skill.

* Severinka’s Sport Sets! One of my favourite Sims 4 creators. Severinka has two brilliant sports sets which I definitely recommend! The sets include the soccer balls, basketballs and ball rack shown in my screenshots. Also the large soccer pitch rug which can be used for basketball too. There are other sports items, like an alternative yoga mat and punch bag, and a variety of decorative objects for gyms. Oh, she has a basketball hoop too!

News: The Sims 4 Romantic Garden Stuff – Announcement and Trailer

Just as I started to feel antsy for some new content and started lining up the pleading-eyed cat gifs, the sims team went ahead and announced the new stuff pack! The Sims 4 Romantic Garden Stuff Pack does exactly what it says on the tin: it gives us stuff… for gardens… with a whimsical Victorian feel. Perfect for a secret meeting between star crossed lovers, or beautiful summer wedding!

I LOVE the new sculptures, the flowers are pretty, and there are some nice outfits as usual. The content reminds me a little of the garden aspect of the TS2 Mansion and Gardens stuff pack… only, I think this might actually be even prettier! :-O

And what I REALLY like about this pack is that it’s a neat and tidy theme. Like ‘Spooky Stuff’ it’s easy to understand. You either like it or you don’t. I think a strong theme makes a better stuff pack because it has quite a limited amount of content, and it needs to really make a statement about what it has to offer if it’s going to really appeal to people. Romantic gardens might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but some people (like myself) are absolutely going to love this one!

The gameplay objects also fit the theme really well. First, there is the Whispering Wishing Well! Not only can this magical object bring a ghost back to life, but it can shower you with riches or give you that child you’ve always wished for (unless you’re wishing for a toddler). Like the wishing well from TS3 Lucky Palms, the magic can backfire and the gurus are being pretty candid about what could go wrong! But with over 50 different outcomes, it’s definitely an interesting object to explore!

Secondly, there is the Fountain of Gluteus Maximus, which sims can sit on while cuddling or flirtatiously flicking water at each other. Sims can even splash around in the fountain or pull a prank by filling it with bubbles! This is a nice feature for parks and gives sims another playful thing to do. Speaking of parks, the stuff pack also includes a new ready-made park venue!

The pack releases next week and I’ll definitely be grabbing this one!
